WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER

is terrible.

But it still technically sort of works, so I made a video! Here’s what I’ve done since Monday:

The biggest change is of course the constant stream of dumb AIs you can shoot down. I’ve also added a shield button and a ‘super’ move: hold down the shield long enough (or catch some enemy fire with your shield) and it’ll start flashing, then press fire to unleash a burst of cannony death. At short range, it’s enough to kill an opponent in one shot.

This leads to some fun dynamics already. It’s going to be interesting when I get different kinds of ships in that operate under different mechanics. This is half shmup, half fighting game: you’ll take on 1-5 opponents at once, each one will be a serious challenge by itself, and they’ll fall into a few different ‘classes’ that have different play styles.

I won’t go into the movie editing process… but at least I got it all working! At least I can now do my own trailers 😀

By Friday I’m going to try and build a game on top of this combat, with the countdown timer and everything. See you then!
